Learning to Blog & Creative Writing

I’m usually pretty good with technology and computer programs if I have enough time to play with them and get it figured out, but blogging for some reason blew my mind the first time I logged in. I think I got it now, though, I apologize for seeming so old school.

On creative writing:

I recently found that there are certain places that trigger my creativity that I wasn’t aware of. For instance, my closet at my parent’s house. I was cleaning it out and I found a notebook full of creative writing from high school. It was full of a lot of awful writing, honestly. I wasn’t really as creative as I thought I was 4 years ago, BUT, it did give me inspiration to write about more interesting things and elaborate upon those ideas I had previously written about. I wrote a poem and even busted out a few good proposals for Relentless; I immediately felt better and very mentally productive. I also rummaged through my old art portfolio, and although no artwork resulted from it,  I had creative ideas flowing all of last week and it made me feel awesome.

What I learned: A key to creative writing, for me, is to constantly find stimuli, even if I have to read or study something I normally wouldn’t; it triggers a new approach to a previously dull subject.

Look at you, pro blogger. I dig that last paragraph. I always try look for inspiration and creative stimuli in almost everything I see. The angle created by a leaf laying next to a sidewalk could very well be inspiration for my next design. Who knows.
